The new frontier of the dance music world is now taking notice of the new kid in town, Tombstone, and he is putting out some dangerously good remixes. What makes Tombstone unique is that he takes the kind of grind that appeals to underground blogs and music-makers, and he remixes and DJs that energy to big rooms everywhere. He is a crossover genius having already worked with artists like Sia, Princess Superstar, Scissor Sisters, Chris Willis, Larry Tee, Mel Merio, Tiger Stripes and Gameboy Gamegirl and his remixes have hit the top 5 on the Billboard and DJ Mag charts several times. Now, for the first time, Tombstone steps into the limelight himself with his first single, being unleashed at the WMC.
Who is Tombstone? Kevin Graves has been a behind the scenes wizard of the New York underground dance music scene having hosted a series of events in clubs like the Crobar, Cielo, Hiro, Sullivan Room, Galapagos, Studio B, Le Souk and has played alongside Princess Superstar, Hernan Cattaneo, Justin Martin, Arthur Baker, Sascha (of Digweed fame), James Zabiela, to name a few. But as his tastes moved more alternative, he decided to start a festival in 2007 called The Dance Music Invasion that included artists like Loco Dice, Lil Louie Vega, Kele from Block Party, JD from Le Tigre and the creme de le creme of trend-setting performers based in NYC and Brooklyn. Not content to just DJ, he started a record label with Larry Tee, called So What? Records and launched the new PR/booking/label development group LOUDER in 2009. His new mixes of "Hipster Girl" to be released on ULTRA and his remixes of Sia on DJs Are Not Rockstars Records, are already getting the cool kids' nod of approval when tested in clubs. Though the name Tombstone comes from a childhood nickname, Kevin Graves' alter-ego ain't kids play.
